This project was a CPM project commissioned by CANNI Hemp Co. LLC, a small hemp and wellness business based in Milwaukee's Walker's Point neighborhood. I was tasked with taking the lead on designing and naming their new packaging for their new Delta-9 THC line 'MODZ'.
The Mood Board.
While approaching this project, I wanted to play with contemporary minimalism while also creating a sense of welcoming and playfulness. The idea of welcoming and playfulness was important for me to consider for the gummies are a psychoactive substance and I wanted the consumer to feel safe and comfortable while using 'MODZ'. Being in the target market myself, I tried to focus on designs that would entice people my age while still operating within the clients brand guidelines.
The First Phase
'Modz' had gone through plenty of variation from it's original conception to the final. The vision that we wanted to start with was come up with the color of the packaging depending on the effect that the individual strain would have the consumer.
I.E.; Sativa being teal or light green due to the calming and uplifting effect.
Hybrid being a gradient or a swatch in between the Sativa and Indica due to the both energizing and muscle relaxing effect
Lastly, Indica being purple due to it being mostly used for sleep or as a muscle relaxant.
FINAL Design Process
After going through a few rounds of revisions, we decided that the final color choices and design would ultimately end up reflecting the flavor and effect through the use of lines (not included on the 'Hybrid') and colors representative of the flavors of each strain. We also decided on a blue and purple for the assorted flavors as a representation of both Indica and Sativa.
Those being; Kiwi (Sativa), Pear (Hybrid), Blueberry OG (Indica)
